So if you think about countries that are vastly different from one another, North Korea, Iran, Syria from a political level it may seem like we are so different. Different than the American Culture. Certainly our countries don’t get along. If you read the news and listen to politicians it would seem that we are vastly different. However when you boil it down to the human experience there are certain things that are universal.

So I haven’t read too much about Iran but it’s about as foreign of a place as I could imagine. But keeping things universal to the human experience and I imagine some Persians go about their everyday life much like Americans. There was Sting’s songs that talked about Russia at a time when we weren’t getting along so well.
“How can I save my little boy from Oppenheimer’s deadly toy?
There is no monopoly on common sense
On either side of the political fence
We share the same biology, regardless of ideology
Believe me when I say to you
I hope the Russians love their children too.”

Art is nothing more then the expression of the human spirit and I think we probably share the same emotions, thoughts, interminable holes and dreams between our cultures. We just live under very different political systems that seem to have opposing core values. But as people do we differ that much. We both still express ourselves in art. A good thing.
