991. I Hope You’re Happy, by Blue October

I Hope You’re Happy. This song just makes you feel good. I rediscovered it recently on my “El Ultimo Corriendo Mierda Calliente,” Spotify Playlist while running an untrained for half marathon. I really really try (too hard) to come up with creatively named playlist on Spotify. This song hit about mile 3 or 4 when I was still feeling good and it reached me so upbeat and lifting that I had to play it again a few times. This along with “Stop The Rock,” by Apollo 440 really worked on that run for me. If you like to workout to upbeat music, I highly recommend you get these two songs in your rotation. If you were wondering perhaps, it’s supposed to loosely translate from Spanish to English as, “The Ultimate Hot Shit Running.” Don’t plug it into Google Translate as it comes out something other than that.

There will be days when you’re falling down,
There will be days when you’re inside out,
There will be days when you fall apart.
Someone else will break you heart.
They’re never gonna hold you back.
I’m always gonna have your back.
So try to remember that.

Blue October hails from Houston, Texas and has been around since 1998 doing their thing, crowdsourcing their albums. “I Hope You’re Happy,” came out in 2018. The song starts with a bouncy synth with a simple drum beat. A throwback to simpler happier sounding 80’s/90’s alt emo pop. The vocals enter with some additional galloping percussion beat to it. Every line is singalong but uplifting. It just makes you happy like the wishes of the protagonist and his lover. He really does hope she’s happy and wishes the best for her, wishes she remembers their time together with warm thoughts like he does.

I remember when the world was ours to take.
I remember you next to me.
I remember you with every breath I take.
You’ll always have a piece of me.
I remember, yeah.
Try to remember that.

Blue October

This song came as a running music recommendation from a FB running group called the Misfit Runners, Jennifer McKean Poole, to be exact. Thanks Jay. I hope you are happy.

And then the song just gets better as it rolls along with this soaring bridge.

I remember when the world was ours to take.
I remember you next to me.
I remember you with every breath I take.
You’ll always have a piece of me.

Try to remember that I remember every word that we spoke.
You right here next to me.
I remember how we tried and we tried.
I remember everything.

And whatever your progress,
I know you’ll be fine,
Because I hope you’re happy,
Even if you’re not mine.

Try to remember that–
I hope you’re happy.

Ahh, young remembered love. Ahh, happy sounds. Positive vibes. All good. Peace.
